Erik's favorite subjects include moody landscapes, situational compositions, and abstract studies that challenge the viewer's assumptions and perceptions. His eye is informed by the available natural light and by the local ecology.

Erik prefers shooting outdoors and uses mainly 35mm black & white print film because it lends drama to the subject that is hard to equal in color format.

After college study in the biological and environmental sciences, Erik pursued employment in the ecology and environmental education field, which brought him the luxury of many low-paying jobs in beautiful places, including the lush redwood forests of California, the dry peaks of the Sangre de Cristos of northern New Mexico, and the striking Front Range of the Colorado Rockies.

Erik exhibits at the Robert Floyd Gallery in Southampton, MA and the Vermont Center for Photography in Brattleboro, VT. His work also appears regularly in Orion magazine. He lives in Ashfield, MA with his wife Jenny and occasional photo subject, .
